Hey you, I’m back again with my top 10 movies of all time that I feel you should see while you have the time. Note, these movies are based on both fiction & some, true-life stories and none of the cast members paid me for this post(Even if they did, I wouldn’t accept it because the did a phenomenal job on them and had an exceptionally beautiful frame as cast members), so if you are ready, then let’s dig in.
So, last week was my top 5 fictional movies, this week are the true-life stories (non-fictional) movies of all time. Here goes.
12 Years A Slave
Any movie by Brad Pitt or with Brad Pitt in it, please, sign me up. This is the first time Brad got an Academy Award for production/ directing, winning “Best Picture”, at the Oscars in 2014, and from then on, the movie went on to win 31 Awards, from BET, NAACP, BAFTA, Actors Guild and more both for Brad, the director Steve McQueen and our lovely cast members. Our Nigerian boo, Chiwetel Ejiofor’s stunning performance alongside the black diamond, Lupita Nyong’o was a brilliant pairing for a classic slave movie. The setting was really spot on, kinda made me wonder if Brad was ever a slave master in the 1800s ( Just joking please). Anyways, go watch the movie.
Story Line: 12 Years a Slave is a 2013 biographical period-drama film and an adaptation of the 1853 slave memoir Twelve Years a Slave by Solomon Northup, a New York State-born free African-American man who was kidnapped in Washington, D.C. by two conmen in 1841 and sold into slavery. Northup was put to work on plantations in the state of Louisiana for 12 years before being released. The first scholarly edition of Northup’s memoir, co-edited in 1968 by Sue Eakin and Joseph Logsdon, carefully retraced and validated the account and concluded it to be accurate. Other characters in the film were also real people, including Edwin and Mary Epps, and Patsey.
Escape From Sobibor
Sheeeesh! The most terrifying true-life movie of all time. Sad to watch but it is real and it all happened.
Story Line: Escape from Sobibor is a (1987) TV Movie | 143 min | Drama, History, War Film. A German death camp in Sobibor, Poland, killed two hundred fifty-thousand Jews. It had the most successful prisoner escape in World War II on October 14, 1943
Hidden Figures
Listen, there was a time, 3 black women stunned the world, we would never have known without Google or if this movie wasn’t created so, here is the storyline.
Storyline: Three female African-American mathematicians play a pivotal role in astronaut John Glenn’s launch into orbit, as if that wasn’t enough work, they also have to deal with racial and gender discrimination at work.
The role was reprised by Taraji P Henson, Octavia Spencer, and singer Janelle Monae. It was released in Nigeria in 24 February 2017 and was directed by Theodore Melfi. It won the Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture.

Catch Me If You Can
And finally, the last of the top 5 is Catch Me If You Can (2002). This movie shows the bravery of a con man ( laughing out loud) in the face of the KGB, the FBI police, IRS, just to mention a few of the law enforcement officers after him, and he was barely 20 years old. Played by Leonardo DiCaprio (The man who finally got recognized in Hollywood for his acting roles all through his years in one year).
Story line: Notorious con artist Frank Abagnale has duped people worth millions of dollars with his masterful art of deception. With his scams getting bolder, he is soon pursued by FBI agent Carl Hanratty. It was directed by Steven Speilberg and won the BAFTA Award for Best Actor in a Supporting Role,
