Hey, how are you? I hope you are great! I honestly know as you are reading this, a lot is going on around the world at the moment, but I promise to try to keep this as short, sweet and simple as possible. Before the bad news, the good news is, my website is finally up and running! Feel free to find it via www.viensmart.com , as there is a lot on my personal life stories there and an avenue to connect with me one on one has been created. My update as its been 2 weeks since June is below.
Now to the bad news, in Nigeria, rape cases are being reported on a daily now after the death of a young lady named UWA sparked the trend, #WeAreTired & #StopRapingUs, I too took part in a peaceful protest on Monday, June 1st, 2020. Thank you to Maj, a singer who designed my #CupDonFull tees ( See pictures below), I still haven’t found time to really address this as I would want but I will someday.
Tuesday was another trend on black lives matter with the hashtag, #BlackoutTuesday that I participated in as well, to show solidarity with my fellow Africans living in the diaspora who have had great lengths of injustice plaguing the black communities abroad, but while all these were happening, with protests being carried out, I lost a great man, a friend, an icon, Papa is what I called him but many knew him as the great Majek Fashek. He was truly an icon who stood for justice through music, something this generation knows little or nothing about (I say so ‘cos we the youths are still clueless about the power we possess and till we know, we all will continue to suffer).
I dedicated my Wednesday show on #TheRunDown @city1051 in loving memory of Majekodunmi Fasheke aka Majek Fashek, who died at the age of 57, a lot of people called in to pay their last respect to him live on radio, but these two pictures posted on my Instagram was the only way I could get you to leave a sweet message for him, so if you haven’t left a message, kindly do so on these post on Instagram.
And as I wrap up this not so lifestyle article today and as the world in its self is all black and dark with no grey areas, I want you to remember, violence begets violence, let’s be kind to one another especially in these times we all have found ourselves.
Xoxo
