Oh you will not believe me when I tell you all what went down this week! Details coming up soon, just watch this space, and by the way, this! will be my second longest weekend special ever, trust me, I know what I am saying.
DAY 3
So, I need to apologise again to my fans for staying away again, but you know a sister has got to work to get some doe else there will be no blog, lol, well well, I actually took time out to work for the WAPIC (West African Power Industry Convention) convention which took place at the Prestigious Eko Hotel and Suits from the 19th to 21st of November 2012, right here in Lagos Nigeria. I met almost every big company you can ever imagine in the power sector, from OTG PLAYA, SIEMENS, AITEO, SURGETEK, METERING.COM, ITRON, ESI, MOMAS SYSTEMS NIGERIA, OMICRON, SAP, KONCAR, VERGOKAN, and the list goes on and on. The brain behind putting the conference together once again is of course SPINTELLIGENT Clarion Events, I kid you not when I say their name sure holds the kind of reputation money can never buy, their service speaks well of intelligence truly, and brilliance, I sure do look forward to work for the crew again next year but this time around, I will prefer to work "with" them instead *winks* (don't worry, I'm not gunning for the post of a manager there, "yet" loll, nothing is impossible for Vien Smart).
The little details of my job description will make you laugh and cry, I held down 4 positions there, contact lady, information lady, ushering lady, location of hangouts in Lagos lady, bag collection lady, badge maker lady, food voucher collection lady and above all, the lady who had smiles all through the event and was asked repeatedly if I am a model(laughs) i guess this is where the phrase goes "once a beauty queen, always a queen", guess I couldn't even lie to save my HEELS SO HIGH cos they were all not blind to see that I still had that model figure right(with all humility I say, thank you ladies and gentlemen of the board who asked the question), then the meal for each day was so scrumptious, I think I bit myself twice while eating, loll.
CHECK OUT MY SMILE AFTER A NICE MEAL. DAY 1
DAY 2.
At the end of the conference I was so sad cos I knew I had made some good foreign friends and I just felt I may never see them again but I am hopeful and know I will see them again if I keep in touch(vice versa).
There was a man there who by the way caught my fancy, he was tall, dark and handsome(the ideal perfect man of every white or black woman's fantasy) from a small country called Gambia, oh and by the way (and I must confess, if this is how all the Gambian men look like with a fluent accent and smiles to get you thinking for days, then I am moving there like so yesterday, to meet my heart throb, laughing real hard at this moment), I was impressed because he really had a great sense of humour, young and very "not" wearing an engagement band, lol, not like I was checking though but he did ask me out for lunch and I refused, not because I wanted to but because I was on duty and my job is priority to me at that moment. Oh well, guess you will never know what happened at the end of that story eh!
Friday came and I had to leave my flat mate, I did do a lot of house cleaning before I left and some cooking but got no award or thank you for it, but well, there again, when you do things for people, don't expect them to do same back for you, and don't stand around and wait for a thank you note or greeting and appraisals. I joined the first Brt bus and headed straight home to Festac, hmmm, that's sweet smell of Amama's cooking, the freedom, the space and of course, my privacy! I missed it all for a full week, getting set to go to Reel-Radio, I missed every artist that was in the studio, Prezzo, the African rapper who broke the heart of our Nigerian pop singer, Goldie, Djinee, Josph Benjamin (congratulations again bro on your award), Kel the female rapper whom I had always wanted to meet and others. On my way there and the traffic is so bad I had to get down at Ojuelegba and walk the distance to Agege Motor Road (Lord, heaven knows I need a car like asap! fast), I got to the studio sweating like a fat kid jugging on day 1 to shed some weight, it was ridiculous! everyone in the studio was feeling so bad for me, but hey, its better late and sweaty than to miss my show, The Dj Hour on www.reel-radio.com with Dj Frizle, my main man, every Friday by 4:30 pm till 6 ppm when we sign out, speaking of Reel Radio, guess what guys, we won our first award! yay! for Best On line Radio Station of the Year at the #Blueprints Awards, I sure feel blessed to be a part of the only on line radio station in Nigeria, Lagos and we are up for more nominations before the year runs out, so get voting for us guys.
PLEASE VOTE FOR #REELRADIO AS THE BEST ON LINE RADIO STATION FOR THE NIGERIANBROADCASTERS MERIT AWARDS! GO TO www.reel-radio.com TO VOTE. YOU WANT TO KNOW WHY? THEN LISTEN TO US, MONDAY TO FRIDAY FROM 10 AM TO 6 PM, ON YOUR BALCKBERRY PHONES, LAPTOPS, OR ANY ANDROID MOBILE AND SEE FIRST HAND FOR YOURSELF WHY WE ARE TRULY THE BEST IN ON LINE RADIO.
Still on the award mood, our Nigerian male pop artiste D'banj got yet again another award at the MOBO (Music Of Black Origin) awards in London, also named the Best African act at the 2012 MTV Europe Music Awards, not to even mention that from channel o awards, this brother is still at the top of his game. Then, the suspects who won Channel O Music Awards were of course the usual ones, loll, David O, Ice prince Zamani, Brymo, Tiwa Savage (I've got my eyes on her), and Flavour, congrats guys, I too will soon be on that list(for real)
D BANJ AT MOBO AWARDS AND ICE PRINCE AT THE CHANNEL O AWARDS
Weekend is up and its time for my Sunday night soap opera, but hey, before that I need to do some home work, I totally forgot to tell you how the upper weekend was, here is the only detail I can recall below, see ya.
Friday night is mash up mehn, I had the best twerk like I said in my last T.G.I.F journal, got set for Saturday for the NMAA(Nigerian Models Achievers Awards), had my hair stylist do me bad, he made a sick pony tail which later on became the best look I think I have ever had on, it really makes me look like a model I must say.
I never told you how the red carpet went, well, here goes. I made it to the event in one piece and had to wait for my other friends to show up (Damola, The blogger Miss Mobo and The talk show host Krystm, Africa's Oprah), it was darn right anoying cos I thought I had Vip tickets only to get there and it was a regular one. The sad part was the fact that I was hungry and they kept passing by my area and never gave myself and my friends any thing to even drink! it pissed me off!this is the last time I will go to an event and assume that I'm a VIP and not eat before leaving home, word!. I had to leave, but my time was now worth it when the runway show began, then later when I got an L.G umbrella
(not like it mattered, cos I have tons of umbrellas, duh, its raining season again, lol, and I am ready). Got home safe and sound, did skype with babes and off to lala land I went(sleep). Sunday morning came and I woke up 10:30, I missed church, due to my sleepy head and dead battery which led to my alarm not going off at 5 am as it always does, I made up for it in a way by going for the Island church later on at the evening get together at Protea Hotel in Lekki, Victoria Island. themed " LIFE AND HAPPINESS P.k said something that struck me. He said, theses are key things in life to be truly happy and if you can live by it then you are set for life and its gifts,
Find yourself,
Pour your self into anything you do,
Forgive your self,
Value your self,
Live beyond your self,
Be your self,
Express your self
Dont give up on your self
Free your self and above all,
Find God.
"we should live happy, get a life, get a hobby and find and do what ever makes us happy, yesterday will go and never come, like wise, no one knows tomorrow so live for today!"
I am so blessed by his word for the day and have decided to live hence forth! You will regret more the things you did not do in your life than the ones you did. My sis and brother came over to meet P.k and P.m and Pst B, it was a night I will never forget, this is where reality really kicked in. Staying on the Island these past few days also made me better, my flat mate really gave me a tough time but hey, who am I to complain, life is a journey and a lesson, we should choose carefully who we decide to take along or walk with because some of them will help you through and some will break you while some will heal and teach you, for me, every experience I have had is a blessing and a lesson in life, so, I have no regrets.
Just saw on calmdaisy (my friend and presenter on reel radio) dp that the veteran actor Pete Eneh is dead, horrible pictures of his was displayed on the net after his leg was amputated off, and the annoying part is that after cutting off his leg he still died how sad, I pray his soul rests in perfect peace, amen, too may people have died in the industry, I can not take another sad story so, no body better die again (like as if its up to me).
Well, that's all folks, see y' all later alligators and by the way, I still have this song on replay, its a master piece by Labrynth and Emeli Sandie "Beneath Your Beautiful", Emeli also was a huge winner of the night at the 2012 MOBO Awards, snatching 3 for her self, how sweet, that's reward for great talent and Labrinth also got one. I sure know I would love to see Mr. Yarn's own cos he sure doesn't ever show that side, loll, its like the brother is made of Ice. Enjoy and remember, be kind to one another.
